For the second year, the Library Ireland Week Taskforce are delighted
to announce the nominations for the Library Staff Champion Award. As
with our inaugural award last year, our nominees come from all types of
library roles, demonstrating the value and impact of all library staff,
whether working directly with patrons or working behind the scenes in
public, specialist or academic libraries.
In line with the theme for LIW of _Libraries Inspire_, all of our
shortlisted nominees were put forward for this award as truly inspiring
library staff. They were nominated by colleagues who wanted to share
that inspiration with the wider library community and give recognition
to their incredible contributions which manifest in a dedication to
their role, their patrons and their libraries.
The shortlisted nominees for the Library Staff Champion Award are:
* Theresa Kelly, Children’s Librarian, Wexford Public Libraries
* Liam Timmons, Van Driver, Laois Library Service
* Barbara Kinsella, Senior Library Assistant, Carlow Institute of
Technology
* Laura Rooney Ferris, Library Resources Manager, HSE Dr Steevens
Library
* Jesse Waters, Student Engagement & Success Librarian, Glucksman
Library, University of Limerick
Congratulations to all of the nominees. The winner will be announced
later in the summer as part of the launch of Library Ireland Week 2020
which will be an island wide celebration of libraries in collaboration
with our colleagues in Libraries Northern Ireland.
