The main function of the panel is to monitor LIS developments at national, European and international levels in the area of information law, especially copyright and related rights. Other areas of interest include cultural heritage, information society, literacy and access to digital content.
The panel prepares submissions and responses to proposed legislative or policy changes in the above areas on behalf of the Association. Through LAI membership of EBLIDA and IFLA we are represented at key meetings of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the World Trade Organization (WTO). The Association is represented at the annual EBLIDA Council meeting and conference.
The Panel conducts most of its business electronically and reports to the LAI Council.
