The Award aims to recognise some of the many people working in the library sector in Ireland making a significant impact across the island of Ireland. Library Ireland Week is as much about librarians and the library sector as it is about raising awareness about the diverse and impactful work that happens in libraries every day. To mark and acknowledge library staff for their contributions to the sector, Library Ireland Week celebrates the Library Staff Champion Award and invites library staff to nominate colleagues for this recognition. 2020’s Staff Champion Award is co-supported by CILIP Ireland as an all-island acknowledgement of library staff contributions at all levels for all of our communities.
The Library Champion Award Package comprises of:
• Voucher & Engraved Trophy
• an electronic signature marking the Award
• free membership of the Library Association of Ireland and CILIP Ireland for 1 year after the Award
Nomination Process
Library Staff are asked to nominate a colleague you feel embodies the positive impact library staff all over the country bring to their workplaces every day. The judging criteria will be:
- Transformative contribution
- Inspiring colleagues
- Contributing beyond their immediate role/organisation
- Impact at local/community, organisational or national level
Those nominating staff are asked to briefly explain why they are nominating their colleague for the award under these headings. These are what the judges will review to select a shortlist and the winner(s).
The nomination process is not onerous so we are asking staff to look around, think about the huge impact of libraries this year and take the opportunity to acknowledge a colleague they feel is a great representation of the work that we all do in the library sector.
Completed online nomination forms must be completed by midnight Wednesday 2nd December 2020.
