A&SL AGM and Call for Expressions of Interest for Committee
The 2017 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Academic &
Special Libraries (A&SL) Section of the LAI will take
place on Thursday 1st June 2017 at 6pm in the BOI
Workbench, Hamilton Building, Trinity College Dublin,
Dublin 2. Please note our new venue for this year -
directions and registration details will be provided
The AGM is a valuable opportunity to learn about the work
that the Committee has been undertaking on your behalf
over the last twelve months, and to hear reports from each
of the Committee Officers. We would encourage all Members
to attend as this is both an AGM and a networking event.
The A&SL Committee 2017-2019
In accordance with the Section's established Rules &
Procedures, the term of the current committee comes to an
end in June 2017. Expressions of interest are now being
sought from A&SL Section Members to become Committee
Members for the 2017-2019 term.

The Honorary Secretary will provide details about the
level of commitment required and the election process; if
after consultation with the Honorary Secretary a Section
member wishes to be considered for Committee membership,
nomination forms will be made available via email.
The A&SL Section Committee is an active and dynamic
group. If you are energetic and committed to the
continued development of information professionals we
invite you to consider putting yourself forward for the
Committee where you will be actively involved in promoting
the role of all Information Professionals working within
the academic and special libraries sector and organising
events that offer professional development opportunities.
The Committee meets approximately 10 times each year,
meetings usually take place on weekdays at 5.30pm in

nominee must be a current member of the A&SL Section, the
proposer and seconder must be current members of the
Library Association of Ireland.
