The Cataloguing and Metadata Group is committed to promoting awareness of and expertise in all aspects of library resource description including relevant metadata schema, standards and technologies.
The LAICMG aims to promote the importance of resource description to the broad library community (academic, research, public, not-for-profit and corporate); to facilitate continuing professional development in this field, and to provide a forum for librarians and information professionals working in the field of cataloguing and metadata in Ireland.
The LAICMG endeavours to support the work of the Library Association of Ireland in promoting and developing high standards of librarianship and information services in Ireland, by organising cataloguing-related training events, seminars, workshops and visits. The LAICMG offers financial support to enable our members to engage with the wider community of metadata and information professionals in the form of the LAICMG annual bursary. More details of the bursary will be announced via the Library Association of Ireland website, the LAICMG mailing list, our blog at laicmg.wordpress.com and via @LAICMG
