The LAI is delighted to sponsor the Library Association of Ireland (LAI) Author of the Year Award as part of the Irish Book Awards.
Members of the LAI and members of book clubs affiliated with LAI member libraries are eligible to make nominations.
The criteria are as follows:
The nominated author must be Irish by birth, citizenship or permanent residence
The nominated author may be writing in any genre i.e. fiction, nonfiction, adults, young adult etc
The nominated author may be available in any medium i.e. print, ebook, audio book etc
The nominated author will have contributed significantly to the reader experience and enjoyment of Irish books during 2021
Nominations close on Saturday 18th September and a shortlist consisting of six finalists will be revealed on Thursday 21st October and a public vote will open. The overall winner will be announced at the An Post
Irish Book Awards on Tuesday 23 November 2021.
