AGM of the Academic & Special Libraries (A&SL) Section of the LAI

The 2016 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Academic &
Special Libraries (A&SL) Section of the LAI will take
place on Thursday 16th June 2016 at 6pm in the Royal Irish
Academy, Dawson Street, Dublin 2.

Registration is now open at

The AGM is a valuable opportunity to learn about the work
that the Committee has been undertaking on your behalf
over the last twelve months, and to hear reports from each
of the Committee Officers. We would encourage all Members
to attend as this is both an AGM and a networking event,
followed by refreshments.

We are delighted to announce that our guest speaker will
be Aoife Lawton, author of “The Invisible Librarian: A
Librarian's Guide to Increasing Visibility and Impact”.

In her talk “The Story of the Invisible Librarian”, Aoife
will provide insights into what many librarians are
feeling, including questions such as "do they feel
invisible?" She will share what she learned from
librarians interviewed while researching this topic. How
can librarians make a case for their value and impact and
is this something that librarians should be concerned
with? Aoife will discuss ways that we, as librarians, can
all improve the visibility of our profession to readers,
stakeholders, and society in general.

We look forward to seeing you on 16th June.
